Search failures hindered research. After signing up for the free two-week trial, I tried to build my family tree using MasterSearch, setting filters by occupation, county, and surname. I turned to Map Explorer to overlay the 19th and early 20th century maps with modern baselayers, hoping to locate my ancestors' homes. However, results were inconsistent: some searches yielded sparse data, others returned nothing despite clear leads in the transcription notes. Frustrated, I opened the Help & More section, watched a couple of video tutorials, and submitted a support request detailing the specific records I needed and the exact steps I had taken. Days went by with no response, and I began to worry my research would stall. When I finally heard back, the agent asked me to enable cookies fully and try a different browser, which felt like a step backward since I had already checked those settings. I tried again, cleared the cache, and retried the searches; this time a subset of the dataset opened, but many entries remained mis-transcribed or missing across the census years. A follow-up call or chat session helped me get directed links to the parish registers and some WW1 records, but the process was slower than I expected, and I still couldn't gauge the completeness of the collection. In the end, I paused the trial to reassess and hoped that, with improvements, the site could actually become a reliable tool for future research.
